#5- Local Movie Theater Trip
Overall Trip Idea
- Our class took a trip to a local movie theater to get a behind the scenes on how a movie is displayed and operated in a theater. Whilst also getting extras on how a movie is dispersed between different theaters. This was done to get a better understanding of how movies are dealt with after their creation.

How it Relates to the making process
- Seeing the back of a movie theater can provide insights into things such as cinematography, lighting, and sound. In which getting a hold of these can help create more compelling scenes in a movie.
Specifics
- Overall Cinematography- AS looking at different lenses, the person who toured us through explained that when a movie was originally sent to movie theaters if the wrong Lense was used. screen ratios such as the screen showing too little as if it was zoomed in or the movie showing too much in which there would be people not in the movie visible on the outer layers. This explanation even though it explained older times, showed me that when recording my own scenes there should be high consideration for everything visible in the screen whether it be the background or the edges of visibility.
Similar to the lenses shown to the group
- Lighting- Through being told the different ways in which a movie is displayed in a theater, being comfortable for viewers and being watchable is some of the most important parts that are not a part of recording the scenes. As it might still affect it lighting should always be changed after a scene is changed in which to make sure nothing is too bright or dark to where there might be problems watching. With the inability to watch a movie many things in the scenes might be bypassed. This poses that careful consideration in lighting such as brightness, not lighting in the recording, but the overall lighting of post-production in scenes.
Example of what too bright might look like in relevance to the watchers experience
- Sounds- The guide explained that older movies would have the theater lower background noise instead of it being done in production. This was done through a series of switches and mechanics in the viewing machine. But now as technology has developed it is mainly on the production to take out any back noise or heighten the hearing for viewers in which means when creating my movie intro, it is on me to make sure all audio is good.
